Acupuncture

Restore balance, relieve pain, and support whole-body health with acupuncture.

Ancient Wisdom | Modern Science | Whole-Body Healing

Acupuncture is a time-honored healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), involving the precise insertion of fine, sterile stainless-steel needles into specific points on the body known as acupoints. These points correspond to energy pathways, or meridians, that influence organ function, immunity, and overall health. From a modern perspective, acupuncture stimulates the nervous system, promotes circulation, and triggers the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

At Total Health and Healing Center, each acupuncture session begins with a thorough consultation that includes a review of your medical history, tongue analysis, and pulse reading—classic diagnostic tools used in TCM to gain insight into your internal health.

Treatments may include:

  • Retention of needles for 20–30 minutes

  • Electro-stimulation

  • Cupping therapy

  • Gua Sha

  • Manual massage techniques

Most sessions at THHC incorporate multiple modalities to enhance therapeutic outcomes and reduce symptoms more effectively. Acupuncture is a cumulative therapy—its effects build over time, helping the body to re-regulate, heal, and restore balance.

What Does Acupuncture Feel Like?

While acupuncture should not be painful, it is common to feel a sensation known as de qi—a dull ache, heaviness, tingling, or warmth at the needle site. These sensations indicate that the body is responding to the treatment and that neural pathways are being activated. Contrary to the misconception that you shouldn’t feel anything, these subtle responses often reflect a positive therapeutic effect.

Acupuncture integrates beautifully with chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage, and other natural modalities—and is appropriate for a wide variety of conditions including chronic pain, stress, digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, fatigue, and more.

Experience this gentle yet powerful medicine, designed to treat the root cause—not just the symptoms.
